The Greatest Gift Taken Away by Choice.

I lived in Israel for six months, and while I was there I visited a place called Yad Vashem. Yad Vashem is set on top of a mountain that the Israelites call the Mount of Remembrance. It is a beautiful location in Jerusalem, but the museums topic is the picture of hatred and ugliness of the human heart. The museums purpose is twofold. One to give honor to the six million plus Israelis killed at the hands of Hitler and the Germans. The second is to help people remember and educate the masses about this terrible tragedy, so in all hope it never happens again. But in all sadness the devaluing of human life is once again upon us, this time it is cloaked in a word called Choice. There have been almost 50 million Abortions since 1973 in just the Untied States. This is heart breaking, life is so precious, but choice overrules life. Can Abortion and the Holocaust be compared? Why or Why not? Does Abortion devalue life? What Choice does the baby have? Is Making money off Abortions worse than following orders given by Hitler? Is Abortion today’s Holocaust?

  1. The Holocaust was a terrible chapter of human history. Many innocent people were murdered because of their beliefs and ethnicity. It was truly wrong. However, the illegalization of abortion is also wrong. It is wrong to make a woman keep a baby that is the result of rape? Why should the victim be hurt even more by forcing her to remember that humiliation and pain all her life? Abortion is a bad thing; however, it must be a woman’s choice.

  2. Why should the child be killed? What chioce does it have? So when you say it must be a woman's choice Why must it be? How many abortions are becuase of rape? Have you ever seen one? what about the child's pain and suffering when it is being killed? Abortion and the Holocaust come from the same tree of thought. Population control. No one on this earth has the right to deciede weather someone lives or dies.

  3. Ah, I see it hasn't taken long for the blog to become a space of public discussion, which is great. And, of course, I think abortion is (and will likely always remain...) one of the most debate-able/discussion-worthy topics of all time.

However, I am interested in your post from a slightly different perspective. As a doctoral student, museums are what I study most--particularly those that depict historical trauma and tragedy, like the Holocaust. So I was very interested to hear about Yad Vashem. (My focus is only American museums, at the moment.) I am fascinated by your statement that "the museum's topic is the picture of hatred and ugliness of the human heart." This makes me wonder what the rhetoric of the museum is actually like? Does it show graphic photos? Is a dark, somber, serious space? Does it offer hopeful rhetorical moves? I generally find that American museums, even when they deal with dark topics, try to spin them positively...or at least spin them in a way that makes America look good. So, anyway, I was really glad you shared this experience about an international museum--so thought-provoking. I wonder if you're considering focusing on a museum space for your RAP? They really are rich rhetorical texts! :)

  4. Yad vashem is a site that is design to tell the story of the Holocaust from a Jewish point of view, they do not approach things to make then look good, I do not think so, but this is in the eye of the beholder. One thing I have learned when I was in Israel is to think outside the box. I think this ability lets me see things more clearly. If you are in a box and you approach things form that box then you cannot see things with understanding because you are thinking through the glasses of that box. So when I was there I was not looking for spin and I do not think there is any there to make something look good, or bad. There did not have to be, because a lot of what is there as far as evidence is form the Germans. The Jewish things were gathered and if they were not useful burned. If you watch the videos in my other post this is what you will find there. One building has 600 pictures, but there is room for 6 million. The reason I am tackling this issue is not for the people who do not know the Lord, it is for the people who say they do. If you remember my first writing I said I was a billboard. Well Israel is the billboard of hope, love, and peace. And Israel function is to be a represent God Himself, for He is Israel. So when 60% of people who call themselves Christians are having abortions then how is this reflecting God? Or the Jewish people who hold up this holocaust so much, but then in turn vote and support people who support the murdering of life, is not so good. So I am using this blog and class to learn the other side’s opinions, and trying to learn from the message Yad Vashem puts out, and what the Jewish people hold in the highest respect the holocaust, that they themselves support one. This issue is a very important issue once you cross moral lines then you are doomed to go further and further. We have children gunning down children in schools, the divorce rate is through the roof, and athletes who are worshiped are rapping woman. TV, video games I could go on and on are all connected to Abortion. How? When societies devalue life then there is nothing left. What barriers are left if life has no value? So since life has no value then the things will continue to happen and will eventually lead to the death of this world. This issue has been around a long time. If you think the Bible is just a history book then fine, way back in the 1st chapter of the book of the Exodus, this issue is talked about. And the reason I am doing this is because the people who say they Love God are supporting Pharaoh through their actions. And this is what my paper is all about. Israel’s which includes Christians and Jews is supposed to be a testimony of God and His love, and they are not supposed be saying to the world do this and do that, they are supposed to be talking through their actions by Loving God, and this action is supposed to a beacon of light to the world. They are not doing this they are a testimony of the world, which does not value life. So Yad Vashem purpose is lost.

  5. I respect your opinion and admire that you chose a risky topic, many people have strong believes about it. A few years ago I would have completely agreed with you, but over the time I realized that the world is not only black and white, but also has many shades of gray. I responded to your post because just a few weeks ago I had an interesting conversation with my coworkers. One of the girls shared her story that she had an abortion, because during her pregnancy doctors found out she had cancer. Does it make her Hitler? Another girl told that she knows one lady in her church that was raped by five guys. She decided to have the baby. I wonder what she is going to tell her son when he asks about his daddy. Is she going to lie? Lying is a sin. Perhaps she is going to tell the truth that she does not know which of the five men is his father.

  6. Abortion is a tool that has been around along time. You can first find it in the 1st chapter of the book of Exodus. It is population control. I asked you a couple of questions have you ever seen an abortion? Do you know the number one reason why people are having Abortions? Do you know why we have abortions "1970's"? As far as the girl that got raped by five boys so is killing the child going to take away the pain? Is it going to magicaly disappaer as soon as the child is gone? And as the other person goes do you know how many babies have cancer and surrive?
There is a video in my blog post 4 that you should look at. It is my family,my mom can not have kids, so she adopted 17 of us.There are millions of woman who can not have children, who so much want to , and here we are killing them, because we do not want to be responsable for our actions. If you do not want to have a baby them don't have sex, but oh know we do not care about the baby or the unborn, so we go out and have sex. There is always the morning after pill right? There is always the abortion clinics right? so who cares about that unborn baby I want to have sex. You say it is not all black and white this is true there are bad things that happen like rape, and cancer and what ever else, but there is alway different chioce's like adoption. Maybe you should learn about the 1970's and what they were thinking about, maybe you should do some research on the issue to find out what is happening and who is having abortions. Maybe you should watch you tube video's of abortions. All life has value, and no one but God has the right to take life away, but maybe woman are gods and have this right isn't that what drives the idea behind "empowerment".Do not take me wrong Jenny. If the people in the world want to have abortions then that is between them and God. I do not write this blog and my paper for the people who do not believe in God. My paper and blog are written for the people who say they do because a majority if abortions are committed by people who say they are christians. But I will not run away from the truth the fact is if you care to learn and seek the real truth the abortion movement is only about one thing POPULATION CONTROL, that is why it is here and this movement started in the 1970's. So justify it how you want to, but in the end it is murder but I am not the judge and I will not think of you or the people who have them in negative ways they can do as they wish Jenny. But I will fight for the people who do not have a voice, the unborn, in love.
